Dr Kaime addresses a children’s rights panel at the United Nations

Dr Thoko Kaime was an invited speaker at a panel event organised by the NGO Committee on Children’s Rights at the United Nations, New York. Entitled ‘Progress on the Rights of Children of African Descent’, the event was a joint celebration of the 22 years of the coming into force of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the conclusion of the Year of People of African Descent as declared by the UN General Assembly in November 2011. Dr Kaime presented “Appropriating the CRC for children of African descent : A reflection on the possibilities”, which largely drew on his recent book on the Convention on the Rights of the Child
