ABTA Recognition for Law Doctoral Student

Monday 2 July 2012

Congratulations to recent School of Law PhD student Pessi Honkasalo, who won a coveted prize at the Association of British Turkish Academics’ Doctoral Researcher Awards 2012 held in UCL’s Wilkins Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre last month. In a scheme designed to promote and reward academic and scientific excellence among young researchers pursuing doctoral degrees in the UK, applicants were initially required to submit their research portfolios and representative publications to the judging panel. Finalists were then given the opportunity to present their work to the judges.

Placed third in the Management and Social Sciences category, Pessi was shortlisted from a strong field of more than 120 international applicants. His research on software linking and its ramifications under copyright law was commended for its academic excellence and broad implications in terms of both theory and practice.
