Biography
Before joining the School of Law, Daniele served as international legal advisor for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the European Union and the Italian ministry of foreign affairs. He assisted developing countries in adopting legislation to curb systematic corruption and to implement the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). He also acted as team leader and programme manager in projects on legal reform in several CIS countries (former USSR) and in Afghanistan. He participated in drafting the UN Model law on Mutual Legal Assistance, the Legislative Guide for the Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the National Justice Strategy and the National Justice program for Afghanistan, the Afghan National Priority Program on corruption and supported several governments in drafting criminal legislation in line with international standards.
Daniele is an Italian qualified lawyer and speaks English, French, Russian and Italian. He holds a law degree cum laude, an LLM from Bologna University (Italy) and a PhD from the University of Essex.
Research Interests
Daniele’s main fields of interest and practice are: transnational criminal law, financial crimes, anti-money laundering, mutual legal assistance and extraterritorial criminal jurisdiction.

- Speaker at several multinational conferences on UNCAC, AML and MLA.
- Member of UNODC expert working groups on extradition and on transnational confiscation.
- Member of the Working group to draft the UN model law on Mutual Legal Assistance.
- Participation in several international working groups to support assisting countries in the elaboration of criminal legislations.
