Biography
Leslie Blake started his working life as a library assistant. After qualifying as a barrister he became a lecturer in law in the department of Estate Management at South Bank Polytechnic. He was appointed a lecturer in law at the University of Surrey 1992. He acted as a pro bono legal adviser at Islington Legal Advice Centre, London, for 25 years and he is still a member of the committee of that advice centre. He has written regularly for the Estates Gazette (the journal of record for chartered surveyors and investors in real estate), and has also published articles in specialist journals on criminal law, housing law, and social security law. He has also contributed entries to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography and British Crime Writing: An Encyclopaedia.
