Biography
Robert took up his lectureship in 2004 and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2010.
Robert was previously elected to serve on the University Senate as a non-professorial member. Robert is also an adviser to the University’s Special Admissions Advisory Group and is Deputy Chair of the University Ethics Committee.
From 1998-2008 Robert was a Mental Health Act Manager at a Brain Injury Unit in Essex. From 2005-2009 Robert was a member of the Surrey Family Justice Council.
Robert is currently a Justice of the Peace for the South West Surrey Bench.
Research Interests
Robert's research interests broadly fall under the umbrella of social inclusion where he has written about certain groups within society who have found themselves excluded by law and policy. These groups have included young people and anti-social behaviour legislation, gypsies and land rights, minority groups and terrorist legislation and prisoners and voting rights. He is currently considering sexual citizenship in schools.

Robert is currently working with Dr Jane Marriott on the extension of prisoner voting.
