Surrey European Law Unit

The Surrey European Law Unit (SELU) is an initiative which brings together scholars within the School of Law at the University of Surrey to develop academic research into law and policy developments in the European Union and the Council of Europe.

SELU’s activities include the following to support its research and teaching:

  • Organising seminars and workshops on current legal developments
  • Conducting research and publishing
  • Encouraging and facilitating collaborations with other academics and research institutions
  • Providing a sound academic environment for postgraduate studies, PhD research and visiting scholars

LLM in European Law?

This programme will enable you to understand and evaluate these contemporary debates in European public law. Particular areas of study include:

  • The key relationship between European and national legal systems
  • The nature, form and function of the European institutional structures
  • The way substantive European law regulates relationships between individuals and the state

You will examine both the major constitutional questions of European law and look closely at areas of particular European legislative and judicial activity.
