Jobs in the Library
Permanent and fixed-term posts
We advertise permanent and fixed-term vacancies in appropriate publications, depending on the post (e.g. the local press, Library + Information Gazette, The Guardian). All vacancies are also advertised on the University of Surrey website.
Temporary posts
The University has an in-house agency that offers a variety of temporary work across campus and we sometimes employ temporary workers to help us complete specific tasks or projects.
If you are interested in being considered for temporary work, please log into the Unitemps website to register, ensuring that you upload a copy of our CV to your profile. The website is updated regularly with new temporary opportunities.
Should you need to visit the Unitemps team, they are based in room 25LBLG, next to Santander Bank.
To get in touch with the Unitemps Team directly, please email unitemps@surrey.ac.uk
Graduate trainee
We usually employ a recent graduate for 12 months (August to July) to give them the relevant work experience they require before going on to do a postgraduate course in Library and Information Studies.
The training programme we offer conforms to SCONUL's Code of Practice for graduate trainee positions.
Details of how to apply for our graduate traineeship will be advertised on the University of Surrey website.
For an informal discussion about the graduate trainee post at the University of Surrey Library, please contact Catherine Batson.
Work experience
We are pleased to be able to offer one or two short work experience placements for School Pupils or Librarianship Students each year.
If you are a School Pupil, please ask your School to contact us either directly or through an agency such as HCS or SHAPE.
If you are a Student on an undergraduate or postgraduate course in Librarianship and Information Studies, please ask your University Department of Librarianship and Information Studies to contact us.
For further information about work experience placements at the University of Surrey Library, please contact Clare West.
