Visitors
Members of the public are welcome to visit the Library and Learning Centre for reference use of the printed material, limited access to online information resources and for quiet study purposes.
Visiting the Library
You will need to obtain a Visitor Pass to access the Library.
All Visitor Passes will be valid for 3 months and if renewed will then be valid for 6 months at a time.
To apply for a Visitor pass please come to the Learning Centre Reception Desk on level one or to the Library Reception desk with personal Photo ID (eg driving licence)You will be asked to provide a valid email address.
You may use print resources within the Library, and will have access to certain online resources.
Joining the Library
Visitors who want to borrow books may join the Library, through SCONUL Access (if eligible), one of the reciprocal access schemes, or as a paying external member
There are different arrangements if you work at Surrey Research park.
To join the Library as an external user, please come to the Ask me Desk to complete a registration form. You must bring personal ID and payment or an authorised SCONUL Access Card with your ID card from your home institution (if applicable). Your library card can normally be issued at the time of registration.
During semester the Ask me Desk desk is open:

- If you are making a special journey or coming from a distance we advise you to telephone the Library first (01483 689235) to check that a library card can be produced for you.

What you can access
Visitors may use the PCs in the George Edwards Meeting Space on level one for Internet access and email. (no word processing, printing or downloading facilities)
Visitors may use the Visitor Access PCs on level one to view online resources, but cannot be issued with passwords to use electronic journals or databases off-campus. Please ask at the Ask me Desk
There are photocopiers on all floors of the Library - visitors are issued with a photocopy card for free but will need to add credit to this card in order to photocopy.
Visitors wishing to borrow books will need to join the Library, under the Sconul Access scheme (if eligible) or as a paying external member.
