Article Collection

What is the Article Collection?

It is a collection of journal articles and chapters from books.

Journal articles can be:

  • Those missing from the printed journals in the collection on Floor 2 (a note inside a journal there may direct you to the Articles Collection).
  • An article from a journal which is not held by the Library but which is recommended reading and placed in the Article Collection by your lecturer.
  • Extra copies of an article appearing in the printed journals on Floor 2.
  • Chapters from books which are recommended reading which the Library does not hold or of which it has limited copies, possibly because the book is out of print. There may be more than one copy in the Article Collection. For copyright purposes, we can only place one chapter from a book in to the Article Collection.

Where is the Article Collection?

It is located in the Short Loan section of the Library on the first floor. They are filed in A-Z order of the author of the article.

Can I borrow articles from the Article Collection?

Yes, they may be issued for three hours library use only but you may make a photocopy for your own personal use.

How do I know what is in the Article Collection?

Articles are catalogued by their author and title and so can be found on the library catalogue by doing an author/title search or an author/keyword search. Articles from journals in this collection cannot be found by searching under the journal name. Your lecturer should indicate to you if they have placed recommended reading in the Article Collection.
