Library Store & Collections

Requesting items from the Library Store

  • The orange Library Store Request slips are available from the Support Hub.
  • Request slips should be handed in to the Support Hub
  • The Library Store Collection is done at 11am Monday- Friday, and material will be ready for you to collect by noon of that day.
  • It will usually be kept for you at the Support Hub for up to one week
  • In special cases requests may be made by phone or by email for those traveling long distances to consult Store material (contact the Ask Me Desk at the Support Hub on 01483 689235, or email Journals@surrey.ac.uk)
  • Where permission is required before an item can be brought up for use, the Journals team will pass the request to the responsible member of staff, and you will be informed of this by email.

Postgraduate theses

The Library holds copies of postgraduate theses and dissertations written by University of Surrey students. They are for Library use only, for details see Theses and Dissertations page

Abstracts

Abstracts are for Library use only, for holdings see the Library Catalogue.

Census

The 1971, 1981 and 1991 Census of Population materials are kept in the Library Store and are available as a 3 hour loan

Cyrillic Collection

Books from the Cyrillic Collection are available for loan. If a reader wishes to browse the Cyrillic Collection, this can be arranged by emailing Journals@surrey.ac.uk

EDC papers

The print holdings of the Official Journal of the European Communities are kept in the Library Store, see the  Library Catalogue for the individual holdings of Information, Legislation and Debates. They are for use in the Library only.

Ehrenberg Collection

A collection of English, European and Jewish Cultural and historical material bequeathed to the Library by Prof.V.L.Ehrenberg in 1978. Much of the original material is integrated with the Library stock, but it is gradually being moved down to the Library Store for safekeeping.

Landmarks of Science

A microform collection of historic publications on scientific papers in various languages. These are for library use only and can be read with the Smart View machine. The articles and books in the collection appear on the catalogue individually.

Parliamentary Debates

Debates in the House of Commons and House of Lords are kept in the Library Store. See the  Library Catalogue for holdings.

Regan Collection

A collection of Orchestral parts for the exclusive use of the Music and Sound Recording Department. Special permission is required from the Academic Liaison Librarian

Special Collection

A collection of rare or interesting books and ones which may be vulnerable to vandalism or theft. Prior permission is required. Some may be available for loan, whilst others can only be consulted in the Library Offices.
