Photocopying, Printing & Scanning

There are printer-copiers located on all levels of the Library, which can be used to print, photocopy or scan.

Printing

How to print to the FollowMe_Queue

From the programme you are using - e.g. MS Office 2010

  • Select File followed by Print to open print dialogue
  • Select "FollowMe_Queue on printqueue"
  • Select your settings - print on both sides, paper size etc. Click Printer Properties for the FollowMe_Queue to select Colour or Black and White Printing etc. To switch off double-sided (duplex) printing, select Off from the Duplex drop down. 
  • Click on Print when ready to print.

Remote Printing

To print from your laptop:

  • Login to the Secure Wireless network
  • Go to http://uniprint.surrey.ac.uk/uniprint/ 
  • Select the packages tab
  • Click the Library Open Access link 
  • Run the package - this will install a queue on your Laptop called ‘FollowMe_Library_Guest_Queue’

Please note - when you print from your laptop you will be asked for the card number printed on your ID card. This is the number underneath the barcode on your campus card.

How to release a Print job

If you have printed to the FollowMe_Queue then you will be able to release the print job from any printer-copier in the Library.

  • Log-in to any printer-copier - either by swiping your campus card through the black swipe reader, or by touching the screen and entering your IT username and password when prompted.
  • Press the button to the left of the screen to select the printing function.
  • The Print screen will display your list of jobs and associated costs.
  • Select jobs to print, or select all, and then touch the Print button. 
  • Your print credits will be debited at this point.
  • Jobs can also be deleted - touch the delete button once you have made your selection. If you delete a job, your print credits are not debited.
  • Logout by pressing the Logout button at the bottom of the screen (if you fail to do this someone else can copy using your account. You will not be refunded if this happens).

Printing Costs

  • A4 Black & White: 4p
  • A4 Black & White Duplex: 6p
  • A3 Black & White: 6p
  • A4 Colour: 10p
  • A3 Colour: 20p

You can add credit to your account using the machine on Level 1 of the Library, or online at https://uniprint.surrey.ac.uk/webcentre/. You can also view all your transactions online, if you need a receipt.

Photocopying

How to Copy

  • Log-in to any printer-copier - either by swiping your campus card through the black swipe reader, or by touching the screen and entering your IT username and password when prompted.
  • Press the button to the left of the screen to select the photocopying function.
  • The Copy menu will be displayed. 
  • You can choose A4/A3 copies, mono/colour copies, single/double sided. The default is B&W Auto Paper Select. 
  • Your print credits will be debited when you copy.
  • Logout by pressing the Logout button at the bottom of the screen (if you fail to do this someone else can copy using your account. You will not be refunded if this happens).

 

Paying for Photocopies

Charges for photocopying are:

  • A4 Black & White: 4p
  • A4 Black & White Duplex: 6p
  • A3 Black & White: 6p
  • A4 Colour: 10p
  • A3 Colour: 20p

You can add credit to your account using the machine on Level 1 of the Library, or online at https://uniprint.surrey.ac.uk/webcentre/. You can also view all your transactions online, if you need a receipt.

 

Photocopying for Visitors

  • Visitors may obtain a free photocopy card from Reception, but will need to add credit to this card in order to photocopy.
  • Credits may be added to the copy card at the machine on Level 1.
  • No refunds will be given for unused credits.

 

Scanning

How to Scan

  • Log-in to any printer/copier - either by swiping your campus card through the black swipe reader, or by touching the screen and entering your IT username and password when prompted.
  • Press the button to the left of the screen to select the scanning function.
  • The Scanner menu will be displayed. 
  • Touch the Manual Entry on the screen and type in your email address 
  • To scan items press the large green Go button. 
  • If only scanning a single sheet then press the # button to finish, otherwise put in the next page and press the Go button. 
  • A PDF will be sent as an attachment to your email address.
  • There is a 50MB limit on the size of attachment.
