Student Learning Advisors
The Student Learning Advisors, based in SPLASH, are here to help you develop your academic skills. Whether it's time management, academic writing and being 'critical' or group work we're here to help.
We are not able to proof read your work for you, although we can help you do do that for yourself.
Similarly, we can advise on academic integrity and avoiding plagiarism but final responsibility for ensuring that their work is in line with the university's guidelines rests with the student.
Student Learning Advisors are available during the day Monday to Friday and during the evenings on Tuesday and Thursday. They offer 1-2-1 appointments, drop-ins for quick queries and workshops on the most most popular topics. Advisors are able to help if you want to practice a presentation in front of someone, get some advice on structuring your assignment, writing in an academic style or any other academic skills and advisors work with the Academic Liaison Librarians based in SPLASH on plagiarism and referencing queries.

Please see our list of forthcoming workshops to see if we've got something coming up that will help improve an aspect of your studying. We also develop workshops for particular departments, so if there's a group of you who want a session on something we don't currently offer, please get in touch via splash@surrey.ac.uk
If you want to see an advisor, please come along to one of our drop-in sessions if it's the first time you have been to see us. If you have been before, you can either come to a drop-in if you've got a quick question or you can make an appointment with an advisor.
