SPLASH Space

As well as being somewhere you can get advice from Learning Advisors and Academic Liaison Librarians, SPLASH is one of the best places on campus to do group work.

We have an advice zone where you can get advice from Academic Liaison Librarians and Student Learning Advisors during designated drop-in sessions.

In addition, the space offers lots of opportunities for students to work, either individually or in groups.

It's a very flexible and the furniture, or at least most of it, can be moved around to make it easier to work together.

It's also possible to book a group study room.  There are three rooms you can book in SPLASH.  All of them have PCs in them.  Group Study Room 2 also has a data projector making it ideal for groups to practice presentations.  Group Study Room 3 has a plasma screen on the wall which makes it perfect for group work.  To book one of these rooms (or any of the other rooms in the Library) follow the link above.

There is wi-fi throughout, plus there are desktop PCs available and also a printer.  We also have whiteboards you can borrow if you're working on a group project or presentation and want to use something a bit more low tech.

SPLASH also has some PCs with a Sympodium Pen Display feature. This lets you use the attached interactive pen to make notes on presentations or documents and then save these amended versions.

While particularly suited to groups, SPLASH also has a solo work area with PCs and space for you to bring your own laptop if you prefer.  Although this isn't a silent work area, we do ask that you show consideration to other users of the space and keep noise to a minimum.
