Analysing and Using Numerical Data

Numerical data analysis forms a key part of many university degree subjects, and as a result this is a huge topic that means different things in different disciplines.  Below are links to some useful online resources and suggestions of other sources of support.

Useful websites

Analyse This!!! is a free online tutorial to help you to develop research and data analysis skills.  It is particular suitable for those working on final year projects and dissertations.  

The LearnHigher Maths, Numeracy and Statistics website has diagnostic tools to assess your level, workbooks you can download and links to a variety of online materials.  

Mathtutor has video tutorials, workbooks and exercises on key skills such as algebra, differentiation, arithmetic, trigonometry and integration.

Mathcentre lets you search by course (Economics, Bioscience etc), Topic (eg algebra) or type of resource (eg video tutorial or pdf handout).  

This guide to SPSS is available online, although university PCs also include tutorials.

This numeracy tutorial covers lots of skills, such as multiplication, rounding, estimation etc.
