Maths Society
Hello to all prospective students and current students of Surrey!
We’ve got a lot of exciting projects/events for you all this year! As we have reformed this year we are completely revamping the way and what we do as a Society!
Firstly, the biggest thing that is happening (apart from the Maths Ball) is our brand new Mentoring Scheme, though it sounds very formal it is quite informal! The scheme itself is to allow all students (who wish to partake) to experience in some form of teaching experience, whether you’re considering going into a teaching career or wanting to see what it is like to be a teacher. Right so, what is the Mentoring Scheme exactly? Well we pair you up with a mentee (or a small group of mentees) and you arrange when you want to meet them. The beauty behind the scheme is that it’s beneficial for both Mentors and Mentees, it means that the Mentees will learn how their Mentor learnt the ideas they’re being introduced to in lectures and it also means that the Mentors can revise the work they have done in previous years to help retain the theory. This project is coordinated by your Vice-President Andy Chan and Emma Parker
We are planning more projects/events for you, so stick to this space! It will be updated!
Regards
