Schedule

10:30 Coffee

Invited review talks:
11:00 Daniele Avitabile (Surrey)
"Equation-free methods for numerical continuation in agent-based models"
12:00 Tim Foxon (Leeds)
"Complex systems methods for informing energy decision-making in cities"

13:00 Lunch

Contributed research talks:
14:00 Nick McCullen (Leeds)
"Modelling energy in complex systems"
14:30 Alef Sterk (Exeter)
"New nonlinear mechanisms of midlatitude atmospheric low-frequency variability"
15:00 Aiman Elragig (Exeter)
A new necessary condition for Turing instabilities
15:30 Adam Kucharski (Cambridge)
"Effect of infection history on influenza dynamics"

16:00 Tea

We have space for a couple more half-hour research talks. We invite contributions on any topic related to patterns, nonlinear dynamics and applications, and particularly welcome offers of talks by postdocs and PhD students. A limited amount of funding is available for the reimbursement of travel expenses. We may also be able to make a contribution towards childcare expenses incurred specifically for the purpose of attending the meeting. Please contact Rebecca Hoyle (r.hoyle@surrey.ac.uk) if you would like to speak at the meeting.
