Prize Giving for Maths Students

On Wednesday 18 November 2009 the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences Prize Giving took place in Wates House, University of Surrey. Students from the Mathematics Department were among those awarded prizes.
The Addison-Wesley Prize
A prize consisting of £50 and of books to the value of £50 awarded by the publishers Pearson Education for the best performance at Level 1 on a BSc Mathematical Studies degree programme.

The Departmental First Year Prizes
Prizes were awarded for excellent performance at Level 1 on a Mathematical Studies degree programme, consisting of the book "Mathematics From The Birth of Numbers" and £50.

The Departmental Second Year Prizes
Three prizes were awarded for excellent performance at Level 2 on a Mathematical Studies degree programme, consisting of £100.

Rolls Royce Poster Prize
For a poster entitled The Zeta Function, that they entered in a competition organised by the Further Maths Support Programme and sponsored by Rolls Royce.
