Biography

I studied my undergraduate degree in Mathematics with Music here at Surrey, focusing on algebra and dynamics, and completing a BSc research project on general relativity. I also received Nuffield funding for a summer project on Lie algebras. Before starting my PhD I undertook an MMus in composition (also here at Surrey), with some emphasis on sound art and free improvisation.

I am now doing EPRSC-funded PhD research on symmetry algebras (Lie algebras in particular) under the supervision of Prof. Peter Hydon, with support from Dr David Fisher.

Research Interests

Applied algebra, Lie groups/algebras, symmetry methods for problems in mathematical physics.

Other interests: general relativity, differential geometry, Langrangian & Hamiltonian dynamics and geophysical fluid systems.
