Undergraduate Research Scholarships

If want to find out more about doing research in mathematics (and what your lecturers are doing when they are not busy with teaching), there are some opportunities to do this and earn some money at the same time. Usually the department gives a top-up to the scholarships. By taking this opportunity you will be helping with the mathematics research happening in the Department and get a taste of doing research. Information about the research in the department can be found on the Departmental research webpages and the personal pages of the lecturers themselves.

Nuffield Foundation

The Nuffield Foundation offers Undergraduate Research Bursaries to work with a member of staff on their research interests during the summer break. These bursaries provide support to enable undergraduates who are considering research as a career to work on a research topic during the summer vacation before their final year. The awards provide up to eight weeks support, plus a sum for research expenses. The closing date is in February each year. If you are interested, please contact the level M coordinator Dr Claudia Wulff. More information is available from the Nuffield Foundation.
