SAP Training Session for MBA Students

Friday 5 April 2013

This session will look at the concepts behind ERP systems and business process operations using the SAP system. The module carries two sets of objectives.

The First set of objectives, achieved through the Class Lectures, highlight the operation of processes as enabled by the SAP ERP system and its implications for the operation of the business organization and the work of managers. In the first day of teaching, the module will cover the basics behind how business processes are used by (virtually all) organizations today. On days 2-4 we will go in depth on the critical functions of the corporation; Procurement and Logistics, Production Planning and Execution, Human capital and Capital assets Management, Sales and data Management, Financial Accounting and the Controlling Function as they are enabled and structured through the SAP ERP systems. We will focus on the data structures, document flows (Material and Accounting docs) and the overall processes enabled by these elements.

Secondly, the module also exposes students to modelling of business processes using the SAP platform. This objective accomplished in the PC lab will allow students to gain an understanding of how SAP operates as an ERP system and also provide some hands-on experience using the system to create and operationalize processes in a company. Topics covered by the course will critically evaluate the advantages and disadvantages that ERP driven corporate processes provide to the corporation.
