Cancer deaths on course to drop dramatically
According to experts, cancer death rates in the UK are set to fall dramatically by 2030 as diagnosis and treatment continue to improve.
Professor Hardev Panda, Head of Oncology at the University of Surrey, comments: "'This news is extremely encouraging for patients, their families and carers. The huge investment in cancer services, in cancer research and the multidisciplinary approach to managing cancer patients is starting to bear fruit. The battle is not over, certain cancers are still extremely difficult to manage and others will increase in incidence. However, converting aggressive cancers into chronic diseases which allow patients good quality of life still remains a rational goal."
