Recesssion leads to more stress and depression among families
Professor Arlene Vetere says as the UN marks World Mental Health Day (Oct 10) that economic cut backs and economic hardships can manifest in families’ lives as increased stress and sometimes as depression in individuals.
Prof Vetere, Deputy Director PsychD Clinical Psychology, added: "In our clinical psychology training here at Surrey we are sensitive to these contextual influences and we are engaged in research that explores the kind of psychological support that enables individuals and families to manage at times of crisis.” More on the day here: www.wfmh.org
