Join the Guildford Boundary Challenge Walk
Wednesday 1 October 2008
Following the success of last year's walk, the Surrey Group of the Long Walkers Association, in conjunction with UniSPORT, is again running the 20 mile Guildford Boundary Challenge Walk on Sunday 12 October.
Open to walkers, joggers and runners and originally devised in 1971 by Barbara and Alan Blatchford, it circumnavigates Guildford by roughly following the 1933 to 1974 Borough Boundary mainly on footpaths and bridleways. It was discontinued in 1989 due to the increasing difficulty of crossing two major roads but with subsequent road improvements was successfully re-introduced in 2006. The event is supported by the Borough Council and this year forms the culminating event in the new Guildford's WalkFest calendar.
