Success of pianist Emilie Crapoulet on tour in Nicaragua
Friday 19 September 2008
Emilie Crapoulet, Piano Tutor and Associate Lecturer at the University of Surrey, has recently returned from a 4-week tour of Nicaragua, Central America, where she gave 6 highly-acclaimed piano recitals in the major cities of the country this summer.
This exceptional tour was organised by the Nicaraguan Cultural Forum and sponsored by one of the world’s leading mobile phone companies, Telefonica. At her final concert in the Palacio Nacional, Managua, she received the ‘ExpresArte’ award for her contribution to Nicaraguan culture and art.
Emilie was thrilled by her reception in the country. She commented: "The atmosphere at all the concerts was amazing. The Nicaraguan people are so musical. They are very enthusiastic about art and music. At each concert, I had a standing ovation". In front of packed halls, Emilie performed a programme of French and Spanish works. The National Newspapers, La Prensa and Trinchera de la Noticia were full of praise for this initiative, reporting that Emilie gave an ‘impressive performance’ which ‘captivated the audience’.
Emilie has been invited to Nicaragua to give a new series of recitals, lectures and master classes next Spring.
