Star soloists in TV Show Maestro to perform at the University of Surrey

Wednesday 17 September 2008

World renowned artists and star soloists in the BBC series Maestro, Nikolai Demidenko and Tasmin Little, will be performing at the University of Surrey this autumn.

Pianist and Visiting Professor Nikolai Demidenko’s passionate performances mean that he is in demand worldwide, and concerto appearances this year have included performances with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and Sinfonia Lahti, and tours in the UK and Ireland with the Prague Symphony Orchestra and in Spain with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine.

The programme for his concert at the University of Surrey on Sunday 12 October, 3:30 p.m. will include Brahms' Sonata No. 3 in F minor, and Schumann’s Etudes Symphoniques. Returning after his triumphant sell-out performances at the University last year, this concert is sure to be another masterclass in razor-sharp articulacy and dexterity coupled with an intensely passionate pianism.

Violinist Tasmin Little will be performing at the University with pianist Piers Lane on Sunday 23 November, 3:30 p.m. Tasmin has become an international star as a violinist and conductor, in a career that has taken her to every continent, performing in many of the world’s best orchestras. Her performance with Piers Lane will include work by Brahms, Elgar, Ravel and Poulenc.

Tickets are now on sale for both concerts. To book a place please call the University Box Office on 01483 686876. Places are limited, so you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

Both concerts take place in the PATS Music Studio, University of Surrey, Guildford, GU2 7XH.
