Employee Share Schemes Made Easy
Monday 1 September 2008
The University of Surrey invites all those interested in business to attend a free seminar entitled: 'Employee Share Schemes Made Easy'. The event will take place at the Surrey Technology Centre on Wednesday 10 September, 11:00 a.m. (followed by a buffet lunch).
This event is designed to be an introductory session on the world of employee share schemes, with the opportunity to ask more detailed questions afterwards. The talk will be given by Guy Mulley, who is one of the UK’s most experienced share scheme experts.
The event will explain the various forms of employee share option and employee share ownership. It will explore the human resources, company law, tax law and accounting aspects of using an employee share scheme. The emphasis will be on early-stage and smaller companies.
Guy heads up the Employer Consulting arm of Price Bailey LLP, a leading firm of Chartered Accountants. His expertise in advising employers has been acquired in a career that has spanned the Civil Service, the City, and the accountancy profession (he was with Ernst & Young and Deloittes prior to joining Price Bailey). He specialises in the area of employee remuneration and of employee share schemes in particular. He is a person that other firms of chartered accountants turn to for share schemes advice, in his role as a member of the UK200 Group’s Tax Panel.
Guy’s expertise is unusual in that he has both advised on and participated himself in employee share schemes and he is seen the subject both from a business and an academic viewpoint. Having studied law at Southampton University, he is currently working on his part-time MA, where his thesis topic is the use of employee share schemes as a form of employee reward.
Guy lives in Cambridge, at the heart of ‘Silicon Fen’, which is the employee share schemes capital of the UK and his team at Price Bailey advises companies all around the UK. He is currently doing work for spin-outs from Southampton University and Bath University.
