Surrey researcher wins prestigious five-year fellowship

The Advanced Technology Institute at the University of Surrey is delighted to announce that Mr. Kosmas Tsakmakidis has been awarded a five-year Royal Academy of Engineering/Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council Research Fellowship.
Kosmas Tsakmakidis is currently reading for a PhD under the supervision of Professor Ortwin Hess, who leads the Theory and Advanced Computation Group at the ATI. Kosmas comments "I feel truly honoured with the decision of the Royal Academy of Engineering to award me, jointly with the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, one of its prestigious five-year Research Fellowships. It will provide me with the necessary stability to concentrate on basic and highly technologically relevant research on the realms of metamaterials and 'slow' light.
