Surrey on show at the Utah Small Satellite Conference

Thursday 7 August 2008

Surrey Satellite Technology group is exhibiting at the 22nd Annual AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites in Utah, 11-14 August.

Located on stand 13, an experienced UK and US team will be on-hand throughout the conference to answer questions about the company’s small satellite platforms, their applications and a range of payloads and subsystems.

Surrey Satellite Technology develops innovative technologies to change the economics of space, delivering cost effective satellite missions within rapid timescales. The company is a world leader in the design, manufacture and operation of high performance small satellites with experience gained across 25 years and 27 missions launched.

Recently SSTL announced their expansion into the US market with the opening of a subsidiary, Surrey Satellite Technology US LLC (SST-US), in Denver, Colorado. The new US operation will take advantage of the growing international demand for economical, responsive and highly capable spacecraft for a broad range of applications.

Building on the relationships already established by SSTL, SST-US will rapidly expand into a self-contained US entity designing, building and operating a range of spacecraft and sub-systems using US staff.

SSTL already employs almost 300 staff in the UK working on LEO, MEO, GEO and interplanetary missions, turnkey satellite platforms and space-proven satellite subsystems and optical systems. The company also provides training and development programmes and consultancy services, and performs studies for ESA, NASA and commercial customers related to platform design, mission analysis and planning.

Based in Guildford, UK, SSTL is owned by the University of Surrey (85%), SSTL staff (5%), and SpaceX of the USA (10%).
