Media Invitation: A lecture by the Honourable Mrs Justice Dobbs DBE: Are You Getting the Judges You Deserve? : Diversity in the Judiciary in the 21st Century

Members of the media are cordially invited to a lecture by the Honourable Mrs Justice Dobbs DBE to be held at the University of Surrey on Monday 30 June, 6.30 p.m. - 8.00 p.m.
Entitled 'Are You Getting the Judges You Deserve?: Diversity in the Judiciary in the 21st Century' this lecture will examine how the issue of judicial diversity has been dealt with over the last two decades. It will look at the statistics, the definition of and justification for more diversity in the judiciary, including the results of research on the perceptions of court users. Initiatives currently in place to promote judicial diversity will be considered, as well as the experience of other jurisdictions and the lessons which can be learnt from those experiences. Members of the audience will be invited to express their views on what qualities they think a 21st Century judge should possess.
