Leading educationalists to call for rethink on established concepts of learning
Monday 19 May 2008
Almost 400 teaching and learning staff from the Surrey Sixth Form (S7) Consortium and other Further Education Institutions in the South East will come together at the University of Surrey on Thursday 5 June, 9.00 a.m. – 4.15 p.m. for a day of topical discussion and debate on the established concepts of learning.
Keynote speakers at the event include:
- Professor Frank Coffield – ‘Just suppose teaching and learning became the first priority’
- Professor Guy Claxton - ‘Is it possible to boost young people’s capacity to learn?’
Both will be joined by Donald Clark who will be reflecting on 21st Century Learning: what learning could – and perhaps should – look and feel like in a digital age.
A special microsite on the S7 website http://www.s7colleges.comcurrently allows members to view, listen to and download more on what these speakers have to say and join a live online discussion forum.
