Light Metals and Alloys
Tuesday 15 April 2008
The Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Surrey cordially invites students and professionals to attend the course ‘Light Metals and Alloys’ to be held at the University of Surrey, between 16-20 February 2009.
The Light Metals and Alloys course aims to:
- provide a better understanding of the concepts and practices employed in the design, processing, development and use of light metallic materials
- be suitable for recent graduates in science or engineering who are entering the field of materials
- prove useful for more senior staff seeking an appreciation of the fundamental concepts of the metallurgy of light metals and alloys
On successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:
- have an understanding of the microstructures and phase diagrams of the alloy systems
- gain knowledge of how the microstructures and hence properties may be manipulated by equilibrium or non-equilibrium processing
