Sport Relief – do your mile(s) at the University of Surrey

Wednesday 27 February 2008

Surrey residents are invited to join tens of thousands of people across the country to take part in Sport Relief on the University of Surrey campus.

  • Date: Sunday 16 March
  • Timings: 10.00 a.m., 12.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. – there will be three waves with each comprised of 1, 3 and 6 mile runners. Participants are advised to turn up at least 30 minutes before their start time.
  • Registration: Austin Pearce Piazza

To make this a celebration of charity, the Students’ Union will be organising a fête for all participants which will include a variety of events such as a charity cake sale, face painting, live entertainment from bands, DJs, the Surrey Cheerleading and the Surrey Dance Squad.

The Surrey event is part of the nationwide Sport Relief campaign, an offshoot of the well-known Comic Relief. The campaign is based on the concept of bringing fun and sport together to raise money. All the money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to help people living unimaginably tough lives both at home in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

The Students’ Union is looking for volunteers to help with the organisation of the event on the day. If you would like to be involved please contact Helen Jackson, Tel: 01483 683254 or E-mail: h.jackson@surrey.ac.uk
