Personality at work including the dark side
Tuesday 15 July 2008
The University of Surrey invites all those interested in business to attend a free breakfast seminar entitled: 'Personality at work including the dark side' by Andy McBurnie. The seminar will take place in The Refectory Guildford Cathedral on Tuesday 22 July, 8.00 a.m – 10.00 a.m.
What is personality? What effects does it have in business? Are you aware of your ‘Dark Side’ – your potential derailing behaviours? With evidence showing that up to 70% of performance is associated with aspects of personality, can you afford to ignore it?
This interactive session offers an insight into why personality is important in business and work. Awareness of your own and other’s personality traits can assist in your interactions with others, which, as we all know, is key to success in business. It can lead to change where required, but can also identify your strengths, allowing you to play to these while avoiding your dark side.
Andy McBurnie is from Impact Psychology and has nearly 30 years of work and management experience in a variety of public and private sector organisations. Having always had an interest in people and interactions, he studied psychology, went on to complete his MSc in Occupational Psychology and now works as a Business Psychologist, applying psychology to business, people and work with a self-imposed remit of empowering people to get the best out of themselves and others.
Formed in 2005 by Andy McBurnie, Impact Psychology's aim is as the name suggests to make an impact in business and work through the use of psychology. Primarily working in the assessment and development field, Impact Psychology offers assessment for development, coaching, selection and promotion. Andy has worked with clients in large public and private sector organisations such as the Department of Transport, large retail and commercial banks, the civil service, telecoms companies and the FSA, but also works with SMEs and independent sole traders.
