Statement on the Decision by St George’s University of London

Following the University of Surrey’s recent discussions with St George’s, University of London, regarding a potential partnership and formation of a new university, St George’s has announced that it will begin the process of a merger with Royal Holloway, University of London.
In commenting on the decision, Professor Christopher Snowden, Vice-Chancellor of Surrey, said:
"St George’s decision does not affect our commitment to continue to invest in our high quality research and teaching in health and medical activities fields."
The University will continue to develop its collaboration with all of its regional NHS hospital trusts, the Strategic Health Authority and Primary Care Trust to support and deliver improved healthcare in the region.
