- Viral marketing, social networking, user generated content and blogging: how to work out if it’s right for your business and use it!

The University of Surrey invites all those interested in business to attend a free breakfast seminar entitled: 'To blog or not to blog – is that your question? The seminar will take place in The Refectory Guildford Cathedral on Tuesday 14 October 2008, 8.00 a.m – 10.00 a.m.

This breakfast event will be facilitated by Sarah Orchard from Orchard Marketing Association.

New web technologies and techniques have boomed with the growth of everything from blogs, chat rooms, forums, online photo albums, wikis, podcasts, to user generated content sites and professional & social networking sites, like LinkedIn, Ecademy, TripAdvisor, MySpace, YouTube, Facebook et al.

This session offers an insight into these different web technologies and how small businesses can use them to great effect to boost their marketing efforts.

Sarah Orchard holds ‘Chartered Marketer’ status with The Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is their ‘Small Business Champion’ for the West Surrey area.

With over 14 years of marketing experience under her belt, working with some leading brands such as Avis car rental, Coca-Cola, BT, Kuoni Travel, the RAC and Virgin Atlantic, Sarah decided she wanted to set-up a business to focus on supporting smaller local businesses. Small businesses often don’t have their own marketing department or marketing manager and often desperately need marketing expertise to help grow their business - this is where the power of the ‘virtual’ marketing department provided through Orchard Marketing Associates, comes into play!

Timings for this event are as follows:

8.00 a.m. – Breakfast and networking
