Yorkshire-based Dance Theatre Company Instant Dissidence presents White Out Conditions at the University of Surrey
Wednesday 5 November 2008
A challenging physical dance theatre production playing between the notions of the beautiful and the grotesque.
Following a successful 2007 tour, White Out Conditions returns for a 2008 Autumn tour and will perform at the University of Surrey on Wednesday 19th November at 7.30pm. Under the artistic direction of Rita Marcalo, a graduate from the University of Surrey, White Out Conditions takes the spectator through a journey exuberating theatrical tension, powerful visual designs and intricately choreographed movement.
In White Out Conditions, someone performs a dance his body can no longer do, someone eats to exhaustion, someone dances like a bird, someone loves someone whose left foot is tied to the ceiling. This weird and wonderful performance distorts reality along the way whilst questioning perceptions of nudity and sexuality (the performance is suitable for those aged 16+).
With an emphasis on the collaboration between performers, choreographer and designer, this results in an intertwining of set and costume design, especially composed eclectic music and performers of diverse backgrounds.
Tickets can be booked from the Box Office on 01483 686876 at £7.50 and £3 students. The dance show will take place in the PATS Building Dance Studio on the University of Surrey’s Stag Hill Campus, Guildford, GU2 7XH, at 7:30 p.m.
