Classical sensation and gramophone award winner Tasmin Little comes to Guildford

International Star Violinist Tasmin Little to perform at the University of Surrey with pianist Piers Lane.

Pioneer of the recently acclaimed project The Naked Violin, for which she received the 2008 Classical FM Gramophone Award for Audience Innovation, Tasmin Little is an international star who has captivated audiences around the world, whether in concert halls, meetings rooms, factories or hospitals.

Tasmin has played with some of the world’s greatest orchestras in a career that has taken her to every continent in the world. In addition to her regular solo performances, she now directs orchestras such as the Norwegian Chamber, London Mozart Players, Royal Philharmonic, European Union Chamber Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia.

Tasmin will perform at the University of Surrey with Australian pianist Piers Lane on Sunday 23 November at 3:30 p.m. Reviewing Piers Lane in Gramophone Magazine, Bryce Morrison wrote, “no praise could be high enough for Piers Lane whose playing throughout is of a superb musical intelligence, sensitivity and scintillating brilliance”. Piers Lane who has a long-standing musical partnership with Tasmin Little, also has a flourishing international career as a soloist and chamber musician.

The concert programme will include Brahms’ Sonatensatz, Elgar’s Sonata for Violin and Piano in E minor, Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Piano and Poulenc’s Sonata.

Tickets are £17.50, £15 senior citizens and £5 concessions. They can be booked from the University Box Office on 01483 686876, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Monday-Friday. The concert will take place in the Performing Arts Technology Studios (PATS), Studio One, on the University of Surrey’s Stag Hill Campus, Guildford, GU2 7XH.
