University of Surrey tops English graduate employment league...
Wednesday 22 July 2009
Reinforcing its position as a leader in ensuring the employability of its graduates, the University of Surrey has been revealed as the highest-ranking English university by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) in its employment key performance indicator (KPI) for 2007/8.
Surrey's score of 96.7% represents the percentage of first-degree, full-time students in work or further study six months after leaving university, and shows a minimal decrease from the institution's impressive 2006/7 figure of 97% despite the economic downturn and rising unemployment.
University of Surrey Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher Snowden, said:
"We hope that today's results will demonstrate the huge value of a well-taught degree in the job market."
"It is hugely gratifying that even in challenging times, the commitment of everybody at the University of Surrey to securing the brightest possible future for our graduates is continuing to reap rewards. Our drive to introduce professional training elements to every possible undergraduate course is a major contributor to the success of our graduates."
