Stars of science to shine in Surrey!

The British Science Festival (5-10 September) is just around the corner. This year it’s visiting Surrey and giving local residents and visitors the fantastic opportunity to talk to some of our best and most well-known scientists, at the University of Surrey and venues across the county.
Professor Robert Winston, one of the UK’s most respected medical academics, will be appearing, joined by TV presenter and physicist Jim Al-Khalili from the University of Surrey.
Best selling writer Bill Bryson will also be at the Festival: giving BBC Radio 4’s presenter Quentin Cooper an insight into his life and the tales behind his books.
Other authors show-casing their talents at the Festival are Phillip Ball, Frank Close and Horrible Science series creator Nick Arnold. Comedian Robert Ince will also be joining the fun.
Lord May, the 2009 British Science Festival President, will deliver the Presidential address exploring his chosen theme of 'Creativity, innovation and evolution'. His illustrious career includes stints as the President of the Royal Society, Chief Scientific Adviser to the British Government and Head of the Office of Science and Technology.
Mathematician, author and journalist Simon Singh will explore why journalists love stupid equations, and celebrity chef Antony Worrall Thompson will join Professor Margaret Rayman, Professor of Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey, to prepare recipes aimed at promoting prostate health.
There’ll also be a chance to come and hear from outstanding science communicators about the newest science including the dark side of the universe, the evolution of language and the world's first racing car made from sustainable materials.
