The stars are out for The Great Look Up

Monday 17 August 2009

The University of Surrey is hosting an evening of star gazing as a prelude to the British Science Festival 2009. Astronomers from across the South East will be sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and their telescopes to show as many people as possible the wonders of the night sky.

The Great Look Up is a joint venture between The University of Surrey and the Guildford Astronomical Society and coincides with the International Year of Astronomy. 2009 also marks the 40th anniversary of man setting foot on the Moon.

Everyone is invited, so whether you are an expert astronomer or a complete beginner, bring your family and friends for an evening under the stars. There will be a whole evening of activities including guest speakers, an expert workshop, and a summer BBQ.

So if you’ve ever wondered about the sky at night, come along and reach for the stars.

The Great Look Up: 7.45pm – 11.30pm, 28 August, Varsity Centre.
