The UKSEDS Annual Conference comes to Surrey: Saturday 7 November

Thursday 5 November 2009

The Surrey Space Society at the University of Surrey aims to bring together like minded students studying space exploration and technology and those with a keen interest in space activities.

UKSEDS is the UK Students for the Exploration and Development of Space, a national society aiming to achieve the same objectives as our Space Society, but on a much larger scale. The UKSEDS annual conference is organised and hosted at a different university each year, and this year Surrey has the pleasure of hosting it.

The event will include a total of 18 speakers representing institutes such as; the European Space Agency; universities from across the UK including Oxford, Glasgow and Imperial; the BBC; Astrium and the British National Space Centre. More information and a full line up of speakers can be found at the UKSEDS website: http://conference.ukseds.org/

Date: Saturday 07 November
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Location: Austin Pearce building

The purpose of the conference it to bring together undergraduates and post-graduates from across the UK in order to present what the UK space industry has to offer, both academically and industrially. It will be looking back on previous contributions the UK has made to significant space exploration missions, in addition to future missions and how the UK will be involved.

The conference has previously been held at other universities, including Kingston, Leicester, and Southampton. After attending the Southampton conference last year, the Surrey Space Society committee elected to write a proposal to hold the conference this year. With the strong heritage of space technology, they believed Surrey was an ideal location for the conference. The event is aimed specifically at university students; however it is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

The registration fee information can be found at: http://conference.ukseds.org/
