Crime and Justice @ Surrey - A cross-faculty initiative of the University of Surrey
Wednesday 21 January 2009
The University of Surrey is developing a network to meet the challenges of crime, threats to security, and delivering a justice system fit for purpose in the 21st century.
Members of the media are cordially invited to the Crime and Justice @ Surrey inaugural Annual Lecture on 05 February 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the School of Management, University of Surrey.
This high profile event will include a keynote address given by Chief Constable Peter Neyroud (QPM), Chief Executive of the National Policing Improvement Agency and formerly Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police.
The Annual Lecture is the first in a series of events that the network will offer.
The academic foundations of the Crime and Justice @ Surrey network incorporate academics and researchers from every faculty of the University, from criminology, law, psychology, sociology, economics, management, nursing through to computing, engineering, physics, and forensic bio-chemistry. The network will be much more than solely an academic enterprise, for we are seeking to engage colleagues from a range of allied sectors with an interest in crime, security and justice issues.
The Crime and Justice @ Surrey group will offer networking opportunities across the range of private, voluntary and public sector Crime and Justice Practitioners and engender functional links to the crime, justice and security research community. The latest research across a broad range of areas will be available and it is anticipated that those engaging with the network will have access to a database offering an ongoing resource enabling information exchange, networking and collaboration amongst network members.
