Thursday 29 January 2009
The University of Surrey was delighted to appoint actress Penelope Keith as a Pro-Chancellor for the University at the 50th annual meeting of University Court.
Penelope Keith is one of the Country’s best-loved actresses and has an impressive national and international profile. She also has strong links with the local and regional arts community, including the Guildford School of Acting Conservatoire and the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, of which she has been a Patron since 1992.

Penelope Keith has won many awards throughout her acting career in recognition of her performances on the stage and on television. These include awards of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (1976 and 1977), an award of the Society for West End Theatres (1976) and awards of the Variety Club of Great Britain (1976 and 1979).
Penelope Keith will serve as a Pro-Chancellor for the period 1 February 2009 to 31 January 2012.
