Preludes and Interludes
Graham Caskie piano
Brian Dunce visual artist

A highlight of the 2007 festival was pianist Graham Caskie’s performance of Debussy’s Preludes while audiences viewed Brian Dunce’s large canvas paintings representing his response to the music. We are delighted to present a further stage in their collaboration, in which Preludes - and the re-worked visual representations - are enhanced by interspersed Interludes written especially by Stephen Goss. A combined musical and artistic experience in one performance space which launches a CD of the works performed.
The concert includes a short talk exploring the artists’ creative collaboration, with an opportunity for the audience to take a close look at the artworks.

They play with a lightness and delicacy, yet also with a security and force that are a sheer delight. As for Feinstein himself, his flute-playing is beyond praise – I have never heard better.

Shine a Light (2008) 12A 122min

In his most recent music documentary, released in 2008, Scorsese casts his lens on rock and roll legends The Rolling Stones. Focussing on two concerts from the band’s 2006 A Bigger Bang tour and two nights at New York’s Beacon Theatre, Scorsese assembled a legendary team of cinematographers to capture the raw energy and spectacle of one of rock and roll’s greatest live acts. Interspersed by historical footage, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from decades past, makes this, the latest in Scorsese’s music-documentary portfolio, another not to be missed.
