Media Invitation: Surrey Sports Park to hold Topping Out Ceremony with Alec Stewart
Thursday 26 February 2009
On Thursday 05 March, Alec Stewart will be at the Surrey Sports Park (SSP), University of Surrey, to see how the site is progressing after the first six months of development work. In 2008, Alec received an honorary degree from the University of Surrey, site of the ambitious £35 million Surrey Sports Park development, providing unrivalled facilities to underpin and develop the sporting success of the region.
Work at the Surrey Sports Park started in July 2008 with final completion scheduled for early 2010, and progress has been impressive. The SSP’s selection as an official training venue for the Paralympic Games in 2012 underlines its provision for disability sport and being located just 10 miles from Team GB’s official preparation camp for 2012 in Aldershot, the likelihood is that the Sports Park will also be used as a overflow for Britain’s athletes as they prepare for the London Games.
