Tuesday 12 May 2009

The University of Surrey has topped the Guardian newspaper university league tables for tourism. The league table is calculated according to scores over a number of criteria such as student satisfaction, entry scores, student/staff ratios, job prospects, spending per student and value added.

Surrey is the longest established centre for tourism studies in England and is particularly noted for its close links with the industry. Commenting on this success Professor John Tribe who leads the tourism group comments:

“This result, following on from our recent excellent research assessment score, confirms Surrey as the top UK centre for research and teaching in tourism and as one of the leading tourism institutions worldwide. Our reputation offers Surrey graduates a real advantage in the market place and this is confirmed by the high level posts held by Surrey graduates throughout the tourism industry.”
