University of Surrey Vice-Chancellor appointed Technology Strategy Board Governor

University of Surrey Vice-Chancellor, Christopher Snowden, has been appointed to the Governing Board of the prestigious, government-funded, Technology Strategy Board (TSB). Together with two other new admissions and the re-appointment of four existing Board members, Professor Snowden’s appointment was announced today by Secretary of State for Innovation Universities and Skills, John Denham.

Starting from 21 June 2009, Professor Snowden’s 3-year term on the Board will see him join 13 other members drawn from business, the public sector, and research communities in helping drive technological innovation in the UK.

Professor Christopher Snowden, University of Surrey Vice-Chancellor, said: “I am delighted to be joining a body that brings together experience and expertise from many disciplines to bring innovation to the UK economy. This is recognition of the sterling work taking place at the University of Surrey in research, business engagement and knowledge transfer, all of which are vital to both the TSB’s work and the ongoing success of British business.”

The Technology Strategy Board supports the exploitation of science, technology and new ideas to benefit business, increase economic growth and improve the quality of life in the UK. Key to achievement of this is helping to deliver government support for business investment in technology and innovation across throughout the UK economy.
