Professor David Allen appointed Dean of the Faculty of Management and Law at the University of Surrey

The University of Surrey is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor David Allen as the new Dean of the Faculty of Management and Law. He will be succeeding Professor Bob O'Keefe who stands down from his post at the end of this academic year.
Professor Allen is currently Professor of Strategic Management at IE Business School in Madrid, which is ranked 3rd in Europe and 6th in the world. He has been at IE since 1992, where he has also held the posts of Associate Dean of Research (1998 to 2000) and Chair of the Strategy Department (2001 to 2006).
Professor Allen is a successful academic with a wide range of first class publications who has held top management posts in several industries. As well as his work in the film industry, as partner and executive producer of Madrid-based company Cinemagic, he was also the founding partner of a boutique banking consulting firm whose clients included Citibank, Credit Lyonnais and Lloyd's Bank. He has designed and led top management programmes for many of the world's leading multinationals including Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Diageo and Santander.
Professor Allen's research focuses on creative entrepreneurship, business ethics and how companies can manage their social dynamics to foster creativity. His latest publication Corporate Social Strategy (co-authored with Bryan Husted) will be published this autumn with Cambridge University Press. Professor Allen was Fulbright Professor of American Studies, and in 2001 he was among Business Week's list of 100 Outstanding Business School Professors.
In addition to his academic and management careers, Professor Allen has published fiction and criticism and was a resident filmmaker at the Sundance Film Institute.
The University looks forward to welcoming Professor Allen as the new Dean of the Faculty of Management and Law. He arrives on 19 July.
