Wednesday 30 June 2010
Surrey Sports Park is pleased to announce its new partnership with England Squash & Racketball which will see it become the London & South East Centre for Squash & Racketball.
The recently opened multi-million pound Surrey Sports Park, which is owned by the University of Surrey, is already home to a multitude of professional partners including GB Basketball, Harlequins Rugby and Guildford City Swimming Club.
The agreement with England Squash & Racketball is an exciting development for Surrey Sports Park, enabling the facility to host a range of official squash and racketball events, including - major ESR sanctioned tournaments and elite training camps for the National Performance Team. There will also be a host of Regional Courses and Competitions, allowing for a focus on further development in the sport in England. In return, England Squash & Racketball is committed to helping the University of Surrey in its squash and racketball coaching and recruitment.
The relationship will see England Squash & Racketball enjoy over 2,000 hours of court time at Surrey Sports Park over the next 12 months, and hopefully enhance an already comprehensive squash and racketball programme offered by the facility.
Surrey Sports Park, Chief Executive, Jason Harborow, said: “Working with governing bodies and professional sports teams underpins the heart of Surrey Sports Park – allowing both elite and grassroots athletes to train, play and compete under one roof. England Squash & Racketball has been a long standing partner of the University of Surrey, so I am especially pleased that we will be hosting such prestigious events at our brand new facilities, and developing our relationship from here.”
England Squash & Racketball, Chief Executive, Nick Rider, said: “England Squash & Racketball is delighted to be associated with the University of Surrey and relish the opportunity to develop relationships moving forward. Our London and SE office is based within the heart of these excellent new sporting facilities. This partnership will allow us to bring a variety of squash and racketball events and activities to Surrey Sports Park, which I believe will significantly contribute to the future success of our sports.”
