Fidelio Trio performs new works at the University of Surrey
Tuesday 23 November 2010
Performing at the University of Surrey on Friday 03 December, The Fidelio Trio, comprising Darragh Morgan, violin, Robin Michael, cello and Mary Dullea, piano (musicians who are well known for their support for new music) will be performing the world première of Divertissements by Tom Armstrong, composer and lecturer within the Department of Music and Sound Recording. The Trio will also be performing music by student composers selected during workshops with the group.
Described by The Sunday Times as the ‘virtuosic Fidelio Trio’, the Trio’s performances are breathtaking, electrifying and always ‘sensitive and mature’ to the repertoire being performed (Musical Opinion).
Since their South Bank debut they have appeared at Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and Royal Opera House, London and at festivals including Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Brighton Festival and Fuse Leeds Festival.
At the University of Surrey, the Trio will also perform Michael Nyman’s Time Will Pronounce, following recent success with their critically acclaimed CD of the complete Michael Nyman piano trios for MN Records. Evan Ziporyn’s Typical Music will complete a vigorous and colourful programme.
Tickets are £10, £8 senior, £5 students and can be bought from the University of Surrey Box Office on 01483 686876. The concert will take place on Friday 03 December, 7:30 p.m., in PATS Studio One at the University of Surrey.
